Consider the following Best Practices when preparing your service write-up and active delivery VIDEO presentation:
Ensure your presentation will set Jennifer’s mind at ease by explaining what you believe is happening with her Outlander PHEV. By offering a transparent and comprehensive explanation, it will show her that you are knowledgeable, trustworthy, and that you have her best interests at heart.
To prepare for your presentation, review available resources on Go Far Academy and the Triple Diamond Service Experience (TDSE) Resource Guide. It’s also good practice to always check the Super Screen for every customer intake.
As part of your planning process, ensure you give a verbal indication when you are moving from Write-Up to Active Delivery during your presentation.
When developing your presentation, create a script and a shot list. A script will help keep you on point and a shot list will help you down the road if you are editing your video. A shot list can be as simple as (shot 1 – opening, front of car – intro. Shot 2 – passenger side – walk). Shot lists help to keep you organized and save you from having to go back and re-shoot later because you realized you skipped a step or an angle you wanted.
We do not require professional-grade videos to be submitted for consideration. We do however recommend you consider the following:
Consider your lighting:
Natural light is a great to start but do not forget to add light if necessary. Keep light sources behind the camera and try to avoid casting shadows; the key with lighting is consistency.
Try to turn off background noise (something even as minor as an AC running can be picked up as an annoying background hum). Let people know you are filming and ask them to stay quiet and not move around near the camera.
Shoot the same segment multiple times. You might think you ‘nailed’ that shot but do it again. It is better to have 2 or 3 great clips rather than finding out your one ‘perfect’ shot had an issue you could not see until after filming.
Consider whether you will edit the video now that you have completed filming your shots. There are many free services available and most computers ship with editing software pre-installed. These applications should be enough to stitch together your segments into a fluid video.
Render / export your video at a manageable size (1080p and 30-60 Frames Per Second (FPS)) is sufficient. For more rural dealers where uploading large files might pose an issue, 720p and 24-30 FPS is recommended. Note that your video cannot exceed 1GB
Submit your video for the semi-finals via the contest entry page linked below.
